Lord’s Voice International Ministries engages in a wide range of activities and projects in Kisumu and potentially Alego Usonga, Kenya, where volunteers can contribute:

  • Evangelism & Outreach: Participating in crusades, seminars, conferences, and door-to-door evangelism.
  • Leadership Training & Discipleship: Assisting with training, counseling, and ushering within the ministry.
  • Specific Ministries: Supporting men’s, women’s, and children’s ministries, including bible study and Pioneer Club for boys and girls (ages 3-12) to develop skills and spiritual growth.
  • Welfare & Social Support: Engaging in hospital ministry, prison ministries, and street children ministries (feeding programs and clothing distribution). Support for widows, orphans, and underprivileged families.
  • Education Support: Contributing to the Elimu Centre International school, which provides quality education to vulnerable children. Support for pastors’ children’s education.
  • Food Security & Agriculture: Assisting with small-scale agriculture, bee-keeping, poultry keeping, and promoting agricultural activities to enhance food security for vulnerable households.
  • Economic Empowerment: Supporting initiatives to increase the income of church members through credit to vulnerable women, promoting Income Generating Activities (IGA).
  • Spiritual Growth & Outreach: Directly contribute to spreading the Christian faith and nurturing spiritual growth within communities.
  • Education & Child Development: Help provide vulnerable children with access to quality education and opportunities to develop valuable skills.
  • Poverty Alleviation & Food Security: Support initiatives that provide food security for vulnerable households and promote income-generating activities for economic independence.
  • Community Well-being: Your efforts can directly assist those in need through hospital and prison ministries, and support programs for street children, widows, orphans, and less fortunate families.
  • Capacity Building: Contribute to strengthening the capacity of local Gospel Workers and community members.

The entire volunteer experience for this program will be based in Kisumu, Kenya, with potential placements or activities also occurring in Alego Usonga. Kisumu is the headquarters of Lord’s Voice International Ministries, while Alego Usonga is a nearby sub-county within Siaya County, offering diverse opportunities for engagement within the region.

Upon your arrival in Kenya (likely Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, NBO, in Nairobi), you will be picked up and transferred to your assigned location in either Kisumu or Alego Usonga to settle into your welcoming homestay. Your initial days will include a comprehensive orientation led by the local team, covering Kenyan culture, customs, essential phrases (if applicable), safety guidelines, and an introduction to your specific ministry projects. You will engage in various volunteer activities throughout your stay. At the end of your chosen program duration, you will be assisted with your departure arrangements, leaving with a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation recognizing your valuable contribution.

Beyond the included cultural tour, volunteers will have opportunities during their free time to explore the rich attractions around Kisumu and potentially Alego Usonga. These may include:

  • Kisumu Impala Sanctuary: Home to impalas, zebras, giraffes, and a variety of bird species. It also serves as a sanctuary for orphaned or rescued large cats and primates.
  • Boat Ride on Lake Victoria: Experience the vastness of Africa’s largest lake, with options for fishing trips or exploring nearby islands like Ndere Island National Park (known for its wildlife and birdlife).
  • Kit Mikayi: Visit this unique rock formation steeped in local Luo folklore and a significant cultural site.
  • Dunga Beach & Wetland: Explore a vibrant local fishing village, enjoy bird watching, and witness beautiful sunsets over Lake Victoria.
