Our Yangon HIV Centre: Education & Livelihood Volunteer Program offers a combination of volunteer work and cultural immersion, allowing participants to contribute to communities and experience the dynamic beauty of Yangon, Myanmar.

    • Location: Yangon
    • Project Focus: Engage directly with residents and staff at the NAC HIV Centre through teaching English, providing counseling support, developing handmade/vocational skills, and assisting with sustainable agriculture initiatives.
    • About NAC HIV Centre: NAC HIV Centre is home to over 100 orphaned children from disadvantaged communities throughout Myanmar. Many of the children who live at the orphanage are HIV positive. The Centre helps them have access to vital medical care and free education, offering them a safe and nurturing environment to grow and thrive.

  • Volunteers must be 18+ to join this program. Volunteers who are interested to join below 18 can apply if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Volunteers should speak fluent English.
  • Volunteers should have an interest in learning about health education, community development, and supporting vulnerable populations.
  • No prior experience is required, only a passion for the work and a willingness to learn and contribute.
  • However, if volunteers are interested in providing counseling support, they will need to show proof of relevant experience and certifications.
  • Yangon: The largest city and former capital of Myanmar, known for its bustling markets, parks, and diverse architecture, including gilded pagodas like the Shwedagon Pagoda. It has a tropical monsoon climate.
  • Day 1: Arrival and pick up from the Yangon International Airport and introduction to your hotel.
  • Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation. About 4 hours lecture at a designated location, possibly your hotel or a local center.
  • Topics covered during orientation lecture will include Myanmar culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary health precautions.
  • The afternoon is free for exploring Yangon life and settling into your accommodation.
