The Rescue P.A.W.S. volunteer program is open to people from all walks of life, be they trained animal care specialists, inexperienced who are animal lovers, or anyone seeking a meaningful travel experience – our only prerequisite is an enthusiastic passion for animals! Typically, eligibility requirements are:
  • Must care about animals
  •   Must be in good mental and physical health
  •  Must provide a clean criminal background check (third-party check is sufficient)
  • Must provide proof of rabies vaccination before arrival at Rescue P.A.W.S.
  •  Must have a decent command of the English language
  • Anyone seeking a meaningful travel experience.
  • Aspiring educators, qualified teachers or those considering a career in TEFL or education.
Experience with working with children or animals is a plus, but not a requirement for this program.

Our Rescue P.A.W.S. Volunteer program offers an exceptional opportunity to gain practical teaching experience while making a meaningful impact. Whether you’re an aspiring educator, a qualified teacher or simply considering a career in TEFL or education, this hands-on experience will help develop essential teaching skills.

Volunteers will work with diverse age groups and language abilities, delivering lessons on animal welfare, responsible pet care, and community awareness. Throughout the program, participants receive training, guidance, and the chance to create their own lesson plans, allowing for creativity and growth.

Beyond education, this program has a heartwarming impact. We primarily work with children from low-income areas, orphanages, and refugee communities, offering them knowledge and compassion while fostering a deeper connection between people and animals. By joining, you’ll make a meaningful difference, both in the lives of the students and the animals we protect. No prior teaching experience is required—just a passion for animals and education!

This program is also an ideal choice for those looking to gain teaching experience, fulfill practicum hours, or enhance their academic credentials—all while making a difference.

Volunteers make a meaningful difference by:

  • Offering knowledge and compassion to children, particularly those from low-income areas, orphanages, and refugee communities.
  • Fostering a deeper connection between people and animals.
  • Developing adaptable teaching skills and potentially receiving a TEFL certificate.
  •   Volunteers gain practical teaching experience.
  • Volunteers support a non-profit organization dedicated to helping stray dogs and cats through feeding, medical aid, and reducing the stray population.
  •  The program offers the chance to live and volunteer in Thailand, experiencing Thai culture.
  • Volunteers must be 18+ to join this program. Volunteers who are interested to join below 18 can apply if they are accompanied by a parent of guardian.
  • Volunteers should speak fluent English
  • Volunteers should have an interest in learning about education, community development and caring for the elderly
  • Must provide a clean criminal background check (third-party check is sufficient)
  • Must provide proof of rabies vaccination before arrival at Rescue P.A.W.S.

The Rescue P.A.W.S. Teaching Volunteer Program is based at the Rescue P.A.W.S. clinic, which is situated on the grounds of Khao Tao Temple, a Buddhist temple. This temple is located near a long stretch of beach. The area surrounding the temple is described as conducive to healing for both animals and people, and the proximity to the beach and ocean allows for animal rehabilitation through hydrotherapy and daily walks.

Khao Tao itself is an authentic Thai village located about 12 kilometers south of Hua Hin. It offers a more peaceful and traditional Thai environment, away from the busy atmosphere of a big town, while still being close enough to Hua Hin to access city amenities. Volunteers will find local restaurants within walking distance of the clinic, offering both Thai and Western food options.

Day 1: Arrival and pick up from either Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. Our country representative will pick you up from the airport and take you to your accommodation for one night in Bangkok.

Day 2: Morning: registration and start of orientation Our country representative will meet you at your accommodation in the morning to give you your Volunteer To The World welcome package and orientation.  In the afternoon ours you will be transported to Khao Tao by private car to be introduced to your volunteer program.

Weekend Activities

Extra weekend excursions are included within the Volunteer Program. When signing up for two weeks, volunteers will participate in at least one excursion, those signing up for four weeks will participate in two excursions. These include a guided meditation with our local monk, and a Thai cooking class where volunteers will learn to cook traditional Thai dishes and then enjoy the delicious meals.

A ‘must see’ in Hua Hin is the Sam Rai Yot cave temple. Volunteers hike up to the cave, and are rewarded with a truly unique and picturesque temple inside a cave. Volunteers also visit Kui Buri National park, which is known to be one of the best places in Thailand to see wild elephants.

Each week, we visit a local temple hosting refugee children from Myanmar, many of whom are orphans. We provided English sessions for the children and veterinary assistance for the animals that call this temple home. Upon arrival at the temple, we are greeted with cheers and hugs. As their only opportunity to spend time with adults outside of the temple, the children enjoy these fun sessions immensely. With songs, crafts and games, it’s a chance to help children in a meaningful way. This is an optional excursion and does not require attendance

Accommodation and Wifi

The volunteer house is a two-minute walk from the best beach in the region and a 5 to 10-minute walk from our clinic. The house itself is a traditional Thai house surrounded by nature and wildlife.

Accommodation is shared with other volunteers and has Wi-Fi, a common area, and cooking and laundry facilities for all volunteers to use. There are three restaurants and a small convenience store only a few hundred meters from the accommodation.

We offer two options for accommodation: 1. Volunteer House: The volunteer house, as described above, provides a great opportunity to socialize with fellow volunteers and is conveniently located near the clinic and the beach and is all included in the program fee. 2. Offsite private Guesthouse: For those seeking a bit more privacy, we have a guesthouse just down the road from the volunteer house. Managed separately from Rescue Paws, the guesthouse features rooms with a king sized bed, air conditioning, and a private ensuite. It’s only a two-minute walk from the volunteer house, so you can still easily socialize with other volunteers.

Both accommodation options ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay while volunteering with Rescue P.A.W.S
