Strengthening public education in Nepal through enhanced Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs), creative learning, teacher support, community engagement, and holistic student development. The program focuses on:

  • Improving English language environments in schools
  • Promoting creativity, leadership, teamwork, and confidence among students
  • Supporting teachers through classroom assistance and activity planning
  • Encouraging community awareness on education, child rights, and sustainability

As an Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator, volunteers will:

  • Support schools in planning and implementing ECAs.
  • Assist teachers in classrooms with classes from the likes of English, Maths, Science, etc. subjects.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops (based on skills) on:
    • English language support
    • First aid
    • Financial literacy
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Climate awareness and green projects
  • Help design and organize:
    • Health camps
    • Community awareness programs
  • Coordinate with the assigned school focal person
  • Report progress and challenges to the on-site coordinator
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the designated focal person assigned at each school
  • Respect local and institutional norms
  • Facilitate the project in collaboration with the school leadership
  • Communicate the progress and support required
  • 3–6 hours per day based on the staff members’ needs
  • Some mornings can look like classroom support or ECA planning
  • Some afternoons can look like delegating activity implementation, workshops, or community engagement
  • Volunteers work under:
    • School leadership
    • CSN focal persons
    • On-site program coordinator
    • Strong emphasis on collaboration and respect for school systems

 Nepal – Kathmandu Valley & Abukhaireni District (2–3 hours from Kathmandu), location chosen based on the volunteer’s interests and the school’s needs

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Language: Conversational English (no tests required)
  • Physical demands: Light to moderate (standing, moving between classrooms, outdoor activities)
  • Preferred but not required qualifications:
    • Experience in education, youth work, or community programs
    • Interest in child development, teaching, or social impact
    • Awareness of child rights and safety policies

Highlights

  • This program was created to provide educational and other related support and guidance to various school in and around Kathmandu valley that are run by the Collaboarative Schools Network. Stakeholders of schools in Abukhareni region have been expressing strong interest in strengthening their ECAs. Volunteers can support by helping schools plan and deliver: intra/inter school competitions, STEAM exhibitions/clubs, singing, dancing, drama, debate, sports, etc. The location for the project can be based on the volunteer’s interest ranging from Kathmandu city area to the local Abukhaireni district (2-3 hours bus ride from Kathmandu).
