In this project, volunteers will actively participate and lead the following activities:

  • Creating engaging videos and short clips that showcase WB8’s community projects and success stories.
  • Planning and executing social media campaigns to raise awareness about WB8 and Volunteer To The World.
  • Brainstorming new ideas for storytelling, branding, and marketing outreach.
  • Assisting with documentary-style interviews, photography, and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Designing posters, infographics, and visuals for social media and promotional use.
  • Hosting or assisting with creative workshops for children and youth on topics like motivation, communication, or digital storytelling.
  • Collaborating with local staff to ensure all content is culturally sensitive and aligned with the organization’s mission.

  • Preferred (but not required): Experience with social media management, photography, video editing, or design tools such as Canva, Adobe, Photoshop, or CapCut.

The program is based in Northern Uganda, where WB8 Foundation operates several community development and youth empowerment projects. The setting is a welcoming, community-based environment with access to local amenities and surrounded by Uganda’s rich cultural and natural beauty.

Upon arrival in Uganda, volunteers will be met by a WB8 team representative at the airport and transferred to their accommodation. Orientation includes:

  • Guidance on volunteer roles, expectations, and working schedule.
  • Local area tour and community introduction.

Accommodation:

Volunteers will stay in a guesthouse located 5–7 minutes’ walk from the WB8 Children’s Home. The accommodation includes:

  • A bed, mosquito net, and electricity.
  • Shared rooms and communal spaces with other volunteers.
  • Comfortable, safe, and friendly environment suitable for collaboration and cultural exchange.
Meals:

Volunteers receive three traditional meals per day, reflecting Uganda’s rich culinary heritage. Common dishes include:

  • Matooke: Steamed or mashed green bananas served with sauces or stews.
  • Posho (Ugali): A maize flour dish commonly eaten with beans or vegetables.
  • Cassava: A versatile root crop served boiled, roasted, or ground.
  • Rice: Frequently paired with vegetable or meat sauces.
  • Rolex: A chapati wrap with eggs, tomatoes, onions, and vegetables — Uganda’s favorite street food.
  • Vegetarian and vegan options are available upon request.
In-Country Support:
  • A dedicated country representative is available throughout your stay.
